    Here a Sigma camera with a Foveon senor was used. The sensor has the advantage that different colors are captured at all pixel locations. This way you get the full resolution for all bands.

    In this paper they still use two cameras, one for NIR, the other for RGB. I wonder if it is possible to get CIR images from a single camera with this sensor?

    Sigma cameras are rather expensive in the US ($1000) but you can get them for half the price in Europe.
